I am a 20-something single mother living in the UK, suffering from a debilitating chronic illness and trying to survive, one day at a time.

This blog is intended to chronicle my journey through therapy, treatment, acceptance and maybe one day, recovery, from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). I’m also going to be trying to address my ongoing battle with mental illness, which manifests as depression, mostly, but there are additional aspects which I hope to come to terms with by scribbling about them to a faceless audience. Feel free to start from the beginning and work your way to today. I imagine it helps to read my introduction posts, which can be found in the March 2010 archive.

Thanks for reading. If you’d like to get in touch with me privately for any reason, please email me on surprising.jodi@googlemail.com, although be warned that I don’t check the address all that often. If you don’t mind contacting me publicly, drop a comment on my about page, or any of my posts.

You can also find me on twitter, as @surprisingme, please feel free to add me on there.

If you’d like to be linked in my blogroll, or you’d like to list me (g’wan, I’m lovely), then drop me a reply here too. I’m open to dialogue, but don’t always reply fast.

  1. What a great blog! I would very much appreciate it if you would list our (fairly new) forum: http://www.mecfsforums.com There are a group of smart people there who talk a lot about the science involved in ME/CFS, and also give a lot of companionship which many of us with ME/CFS miss in real life and welcome online. Please check us out.
